This paper titled, โQuantification of airborne respiratory microflora provides insights into airborne infection riskโ is published in the International Journal of Infectious Diseases.
Highlights from the paper:
๐ Polymerase chain reaction (PCR) targeting healthy airborne respiratory microflora (ARM) was developed (ARM-PCR).
๐ In the lab, the ARM-PCR was able to detect airborne respiratory material.
๐ The ARM-PCR was tested on air sampled from various locations around a hospital.
๐ The hospital emergency department had higher ARM concentrations than the intensive care unit.
๐ The ARM signal correlated with SARS-CoV-2 copy numbers within the air samples.
