If some countries lead by example, standards may increasingly become normalised

Thrive IAQ‘s Director D/Prof. Lidia Morawska from QUT (Queensland University of Technology), has long been advocating for mandatory indoor air quality standards for public buildings. According to her recent Science publication, people spend more than 90% of their time indoors, yet most countries lack legislated IAQ performance standards for public spaces. The COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted the importance of IAQ for human health, wellbeing, productivity, and learning. Lidia and her team of highly respected researchers and scientists propose that IAQ standards be mandatory for public spaces, and buildings must be designed and equipped to meet these standards.
